Augmented Reality in Language Learning & Teaching

In our previous post, we talked about VR which allows students to move, talk, make decisions, and interact in a virtual world with the headsets. Augmented reality, on the other hand, allows students to interact with the physical/virtual world with the addition of digital content. With modern smartphones, AR is available to almost every student. Classrooms now have the potential of providing students with opportunities to experience hands-on learning by increasing engagement, enhancing the learning experience, and getting students to learn and practice new skills. Instead of watching a demonstration, students can benefit from more immersive virtual content which will substantially increase their motivation to engage and learn. Although AR hasn't gained popularity in the field of foreign language teaching, below are some of the well-known AR platforms.
