In our previous post (gamification), we talked about how integrating game-like elements in teaching can be a good way to grasp the attention of the learners. Although gamification is influenced by video games, machinima (machine+cinema) focuses on not only the virtual reality but the visualization and illustrative elements of virtual reality. The use of machinima enables teachers and learners to create videos from ready-made games/virtual environments for enhancing language lessons when there is a lack of visualization. And one of the best parts about it is that any teacher can create their own movie-like learning materials and there are a lot of games that suit this teaching technique. Some popular selections for machinima are;
Second Life (old)
Sansar VR (better graphics and interaction when compared to second life)
GTA (bestseller, +17)
Minecraft (bestseller, almost all students will recognize it)
